TAX – STATE AND LOCAL TAX (SALT)
Job Function
Seeking a State and Local Tax (SALT) Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting a team of SALT professionals and assist with project management. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded, performer with strong communication, organization, and analytical abilities. You should be an independent, solution-oriented performer who is skilled and experienced in a supporting function.
Professional Responsibilities
- Provide timely, high-quality client service that meets or exceeds client expectations.
- The primary focus of this position will be sales and use tax compliance, but there will be exposure to property taxes, gross receipts taxes, credits and incentives, and unclaimed property.
- Prepare tax returns, forms, work papers, and supporting schedules for assigned projects.
- Assist with state notice resolution.
- Prepare state tax registrations and other forms.
- Perform basic research to resolve state and local tax issues.
- Assist with preparing client deliverables.
Personal Responsibilities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree preferred.
- 2+ years of recent sales tax compliance experience in a corporate tax/accounting department or accounting firm.
- Experience with Avalara and/or Vertex sales tax compliance software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
- Ability to take initiative, be self-directed and results oriented.
- Ability to work additional hours to meet filing deadlines, as needed.
- Preferred, but not required – Experience with property tax compliance.
- Preferred, but not required – Experience with online tax research tools.
